Platinum and Gold houses attract full rent over summer whether or not you are absent.
Many houses have 25% off over the summer for the month of Jul and Aug provided students are absent.
If you choose to reside over the summer, then you would only pay for the remaining portion of the summer rent, pro rata to the number of weeks residency, and only for the number of students resident.
Let's say e.g. only one student will be resident in the summer and this is you.
Say your normal room rent is £79 pw i.e. £342.33 pcm.
Let's also say you wish to reside for only one month over the summer.
And say you will be present during July but not during August?
If so you simply pay the bills for July and the additional half rent only for the month of July.
£ 73.66 bills July
£ 171.16 remaining half or 3/4 or full rent July e.g. if half rent then: £342.33 pcm.
£ 244.82 = additional rent and bills for July total

v
£ 73.66 Add normal first quarter's bills (Sep only if otherwise absent Jul and Aug).
£ 684.66 Add first quarter's rent ( half July and Aug plus normal full rent Sep).
£ 758.32 = Total formal reduced rent and bills for July Aug and September
£ 244.82 —> £ 244.82 additional rent and bills for July brought down from above calculation.
Thus total = £1003.14 in this example for the first quarter.
