- Housing Benefit paid to benefit recipients to assist with their rent will normally be expected to contribute a small amount called a top up.
- This amount though small is very significant to those on benefit with the result that non payment is to some extent expected.
- Evictions resulting from such non payment feature in the press.
- Such attention emotively demonises honest landlords.
- Such landlords deserve a medal for their efforts, without which homelessness would be significantly worse.
