- Pensiones - origin Italy but becoming Europe wide.
- This describes a family bed and breakfast or small hotel not thought to be particularly luxurious, so can be used derogatively to describe a hovel but need not be so. Many such small establishments provide exemplary temporary or holiday accommodation.
