Retaliatory Evictions
- Evictions following a tenant complaint or request for repairs.
- Some criminal landlord's i.e. rogue landlords adopt such tactics to avoid their responsibilities.
- Intimidated tenants fear their complaint might result in retaliatory eviction. Some such fears are unfounded.
- This is not normal practice in that only a minority resort to such measures.
- It is seldom in a landlord's interests to evict a good tenant.
- It is conceivable that a vexatious tenant may claim, landlord impropriety, to avoid accepting responsibility for the real reason for eviction - non payment of rent or other breach of tenancy terms.
