Section 13 of the Housing Act 1988 - Notice Warning Tenants of Rent Increase

Section 13 of the Housing Act 1988 -

  • Notice Warning Tenants of Rent Increase
  • See Rent Increase
  • See Renters Rights Bill - expected during 2025 to 2026
    • Rent increases will only be permissable following issue of a s.13 Notice.
    • Rents must be reasonable
    • Rents can be challenged and appealed
    • Any final appeal decision will take effect from the (later) date of the appeal decision (not from the (earlier)date stated on the section 13 Notice).
    • Therefore theere will likely be an increase in the number of apeals if only to postpone any rent increase.
    • This will add a legal administative cost to landlords - coupled with a delay in any permissable rent increases.
