How to change a light bulb

Types of bulbs

There are two main types of light bulbs, bayonets and Edison screws. Both can be easily changed and distinguished from one another.

Bayonet bulbs have a silver cap with two metal prongs on each side (1.)

Screw cap bulbs have a simple spiral on the cap for screwing in(2.)

Changing a Bayonet

To remove the bayonet light bulb, push the bulb into the holder, twist to the left and pull from the holder.

Fitting the bulb is as easy as removing the old ones. Simply follow the above steps in reverse.

Changing an Edison Screw

To remove the Edison screw light bulb, push the bulb into the holder, screw to the left and pull from the holder.

Fitting the bulb is as easy as removing the old ones. Simply follow the above steps in reverse.

Buying a new Bulb

Make sure you buy the correct type of bulb, bayonet or screw. Choose how bright you would like the bulb.

We would recommend buying LED and the like-for-like shape. The easiest thing to do is take the old bulb with you when you look for the new one.
