Cryptocurrency Rent Payment Trial Announced
01 Apr 2022
Want to pay rent with cryptocurrency? Canterbury letting agent, Leydon Lettings, will soon start trialling digital currency.
APRIL 2022 marks a historic moment for Leydon Lettings.
We are excited to announce, Leydon Lettings tenants will soon be able to pay for rent with cryptocurrency.
The idea of a letting agent accepting cryptocurrency to pay for rent is not a common one. In fact, cryptocurrency, as a whole, is still relatively unknown.
However, in the past year, Leydon Lettings has been exploring the possibility of accepting cryptocurrency as a rental payment.
So far, no official date has been set, however, trials look likely to begin in the summer of 2022.
'FOOLS' is a word we have heard a few times in the past year when we've been discussing this topic – mainly directed at ourselves. It has been a learning curve, and we have felt foolish at times, but after some lengthy discussions, meetings, and training, we can safely say we feel much wiser for it.
The decision has partly come about due to the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies, especially among younger generations, such as students. Other factors that have helped influence the decision have included faster and more secure payment transactions and the uses beyond cryptocurrency as a payment method.
DAY-to-day, Leydon Lettings pushes the boundaries, looking to evolve and adapt to the market – as we always have done. So, digitizing our entire property portfolio is a no-brainer.
With the Leydon Metaverse, houses and rooms will exist solely in a virtual world as digital assets or NFTs (non-fungible-tokens).
No more physical property viewings, no more house moving. Leydon Lettings tenants will enjoy the comfort of their new virtual Canterbury student house without ever having to leave their home town.
TODAY is one small step for letting agents, and one giant leap for the lettings industry; it's also April Fools' Day...
